Synthesis and NMR study of [4,5,6,8-2H4][2.2]metacyclophane

Description
The synthesis of [4,5,6,8-2H4][2.2]metacyclophane (8) was achieved starting with 2,4,5,6-tetrafluoroisophthalic acid in eight steps in 2% total yield. 1H{2H} and 13C{1H} NMR spectra of 8 showed that the deuterium atoms were introduced at the desired positions. (Author)
