Description
This paper discusses an innovative ECT probe called Magnetic-Flux-Control (MAC) probe, designed for the future application to the in-service inspection of SG tubings at each outage in order to improve the detection capability of the conventional bobbin type probe. In the MAC probe, two additional coils are located adjacent to the two central detection coils by making them so tight, resulting in an easily identified sharp lissajous figure on an impedance trajectory. It was demonstrated that the optimum MAC probe showed better deductibility for both circumferential and axial cracks than the conventional bobbin type probe
