Description
We present here a simple device which can detect one-dimensional beam motion over a large range, with a spatial resolution of a fraction of a percent of its range, a time resolution of a few seconds, and good long-term stability. Its resolution is statistically limited, and could be improved by careful detector design. (orig.)
