Neutron diffraction investigations on the IRT-Sofia reactor

Description
A review of solid state physics investigations performed during the last ten years on the neutron diffractometer DN-520 mounted on the eighth horizontal channel of the reactor IRT-2000 at the Institute for Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energetics, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, is presented. The main physical results in two basic fields of study -crystal and amorphous materials - obtained by the method of elastic scattering of thermal neutrons (λ=0.1061 nm), are given. Some basic trends of practical interest as well as the perspectives of these investigations in Bulgaria are considered. 12 figs., 30 refs
