Chelating resins specific for the actinides

Description
We have synthesized three chelating resins using functional groups that have a high specificity for Lewis acidic metal ions such as Fe(III), Th(IV) and Pu(IV). The loading capacity, kinetics of loading, loading as a function of pH and interference from other cations has been explored for Th(IV) and Pu(IV). Differentiation between the ion exchange behavior and the chelation behavior of these materials has been investigated
