Evidence of copper pairing in CuI2CrZr(PO4)3, a crystallographic study

Description
The crystal structure of the rich copper Nasicon-type phosphate CuI2CrZr(PO4)3 was solved from neutron diffraction data by the Rietveld profilation method. It consists of a 3D skeleton involving [(Zr,Cr)06] octahedra and [PO4] tetrahedra sharing common corners. The copper atoms adopt a triangular coordination in both M(1) and M(2) sites and due to the high occupancy factor (1.5) of the M(1) site, copper pairing is strongly confirmed in such structure type
