Energy savings and substitutions in buildings

Description

This report gathers and discusses data related to heating and electric power consumptions for the different types of buildings (housing and office building, new or existing). It outlines that a prospective analysis shows that dividing by four CO2 emissions can only be reached through a combination of energy savings and of substitutions of fossil energies by renewable energies. This prospective study also shows that energy savings in existing buildings represent a stake which is much more important than consumption decrease in future buildings. Thus, the report examines the use of the most efficient insulation and heating techniques within the framework of the 2007 regulations. It also discusses possibilities of substitutions of currently used energies by different types of clean or renewable energies. It sheds a light on the importance of sectors which are not very well known, such as specific electric power consumption and domestic hot water preparation, and proposes an overview of associated energy-saving techniques and equipment
