The application of Michelson interferometers to high resolution astronomical spectrometry
Description
Griffin has shown that the instrumental profiles of existing high resolution spectrographs are such as to introduce errors in the measurement of absorption line parameters. It is shown here that a Michelson interferometer is theoretically much better suited to the observation of stellar line profiles at high resolution.
