Description
Full text: The primary objective in characterizing the IUGRs prior to decommissioning was to determine the levels of contamination in the graphite core. A radiation survey of the graphite core was performed to determine the distribution of transuranic elements and fission products in the graphite. In addition, an assessment of nuclear safety was required due to the presence of particles in the core, resulting from the swelling of damaged fuel. (author)
