Description
The 86Kr(3He,n)88Sr reaction has been studied to investigate the possible sub-shell closure at Z = 38. The 0+ state at 3.16 MeV in 88Sr was populated with a strength about one-third of that expected for the pairing vibrational state. This is to be compared with the 88Sr(3He,n)90Zr reaction which shows no appreciable L = 0 strength to excited states. Transitions to known 0+ states at 4.48 and 4.79 MeV in 88Sr were not observed, indicating little mixing of neutron and proton excitations. Transitions with L > 0 provide some additional information regarding the structure of low-lying proton excitations in 88Sr. (Auth.)
