Calculation of the efficiency of concrete wall as a radiation shield for gamma rays. An application of the point-kernel method
Creators
- 1. Institut Jozef Stefan, Ljubljana (Yugoslavia)
Description
Point-kernel method is used for the calculation of dose rates in the case of cylindrical volume sources and concrete shields. This method, while being rather simple to apply, is also recommended by ANSI/ANS-6.4-1977 (N 403) ''Guidelines on the nuclear analysis and design of concrete radiation shielding for nuclear power plants''. The comparison of the results with the corresponding value obtained by the discrete ordinate method DOT, is also given. (author)
