Galactic γ-rays and cosmic ray origin

  • 1. Durham Univ. (UK)

Description

Gamma-ray emission from the Galaxy in directions away from the Galactic Centre supplies a test for models for the origin of cosmic ray nuclei of a few GeV. Extragalactic origin is shown to be improbable, while a plausible distribution of Galactic sources gives a good explanation of the observations.
