Anisotropic conductivity of CdS after plastic deformation and conduction along dislocations

  • 1. Technische Univ. Clausthal, Clausthal-Zellerfeld (Germany, F.R.). Inst. fuer Angewandte Physik

Description

The anisotropy of the conductivity in deformed CdS is investigated using undoped and In-Cd-doped specimens. While the results for undoped specimens appear to be inconclusive because of very strong annealing effects during plastic deformation, the data of doped specimens indicate that the effect is due to the presence of highly compensated cylinders around screw dislocations. All observed properties can be explained by a percolation model for the current flow through the bulk material between these cylinders. A possible mechanism for their formation is suggested.
