Source approximations for description of the radiation field in cobalt 60 irradiation units

Description
Different models for description of the radiation field, built according to the point-kernel method, are considered. Their adequateness is discussed on the basis of a theoretical calculation by the Monte Carlo method of the exposure rate distribution around pencil type Cobalt 60 source, part of a source rod. The choice of the model for routine exposure rate estimation depends on the layer thicknesses between the source points and the field point. (orig.)

Die mit der Monta-Carlo-Methode berechnete Expositionsleistung in Feldpunkten nahe eines Bestrahlungsrohres wird als Basis benutzt, um die Guete verschiedener Approximationen in der Point-kernel Methode zu diskutieren. Die Wahl der Approximation haengt von den durchdrungenen Schichtdicken der Materialien zwischen den Punktquellen und dem Feldpunkt ab. (orig.)Additional details
