Bronchial artery embolisation in management of recurrent haemoptysis

Description
The contribution explains the case of a young Turkish patient who had been suffering for several years from recurrent haemoptysis. The diagnostic findings revealed arterio-arterial shunts in the bronchial arteries due to tuberculous, fibrocirrhotic alteration of the lung structure to be the cause of the haemoptyses. The treatment applied, percutaneous bronchial artery embolisation, was successful and there was no recurrence to date. (orig./CB)

Geschildert wird der Fall eines jungen tuerkischen Patienten, der ueber mehrere Jahre an rezidivierenden Haemoptysen litt. Als Ursache der Lungenblutungen wurden arterio-arterielle Shunts der Bronchialarterien auf dem Boden alter tuberkuloeser fibrozirrhotischer Umbauten des Lungengeruestes gefunden. Mittels perkutaner Bronchialarterienembolisation wurde der Patient erfolgreich therapiert und ist bis heute rezidivfrei. (orig.)Additional details
