Spin-dependent electron-sodium 3s→3p excitation - how complete are the experiments

Description

As part of the review series on Collisional Alignment and Orientation of Atomic Outer Shells, we have analyzed existing experimental and theoretical data on the 3s↔3p transition in Na induced by election impact with spin-polarized electrons and/or atoms. A generalization of the parametrization of Volume 1 determines how closely the open-quotes perfect scattering experimentclose quotes has been achieved. Using theoretical data, we demonstrate to what extent additional missing parameters can be extracted from present experiments. Finally, new experimental arrangements are suggested to remove remaining ambiguities
