Description

We implement our recent proposal for a version of 'Fourier acceleration' that respects gauge invariance, and which is designed to lessen the problem of critical slowing down in lattice simulations. The results of extensive tests are presented with together show that the idea works, in the relaxation towards equilibrium is accelerated, and successive configurations at equilibrium have greater statistical independence in their large distance features. Our test system is pure SU(2) gauge theory on a 64 by 64 lattice. (orig.)
