Metal-insulator transition in Eu rich EuO

Description
A thermodynamic model is proposed to explain the transport and some optical properties in Eu rich EuO. Results are in good agreement with experiment for all vacancy concentrations. The importance of the magnetic entropy associated with the bound magnetic polarons is emphasized and is responsible for their coexistence with a metallic configuration. (author)
