Absorption analysis of substance in a layer of variable thickness

Description

An improved method of the absorption analysis of the substance in the layer of variable thickness is suggested. The method is based on finding out the linear dependence between analysed parameters and the reverse value of the recorded radiation flows which allows to remove limitations of the configuration of radiation flows falling out on the sample. This helps to increase the efficiency of the utilization of radiation sources, the sensitivity of the analysis being constant within a wide range of the variability of measured parameters. The suggested method has been experimentally tested in the process of the roentgen-radiometric absorption analysis of the iron content in liquid samples. The experiment proves that it is possible to provide a comparatively high accuracy (relative error - 0.6 per cent) and to exclude the dependence of the sensitivity of the analysis of the range of measured iron concentrations at the low activity of the source of the 109Cd primary radiation on the account of the close geometry of measurements as a result of the absence of collomators and the high rate of the collection of the radiation raying through the cuvette
