Research work for improving LWR safety
Description
The work performed in 1992 for the PSF project centers on various phenomena of severe fuel damage and on selected aspects of a core meltdown accident, relating to aerosol behaviour and filter engineering, and to methods of assessing and minimizing the radiological impacts of a reactor accident. The 1992 task programme of the project included research into extreme load conditions affecting the containment in a core meltdown accident: first results are given of the experiments performed. Die Schwerpunktthemen beziehen sich auf Phaenomene schwerer Kernschaeden und auf Einzelaspekte zum Kernschmelzunfall. Letztere umfassen die Bereiche Aerosolverhalten und Filtertechnik sowie Methoden zur Abschaetzung und Minimierung der radiologischen Folgen von Reaktorunfaellen. Weiterhin werden Ergebnisse der Untersuchungen zu extremen Containmentbelastungen waehrend eines Kernschmelzunfalls beschrieben. (orig./HP)
