Description

The behaviour of the volatile fission products I-129, Kr-85, T and C-14 is slightly different in spent fast and thermal reactor fuel. In an FBR fuel reprocessing plant the philosophy and procedures for a safe, reliable and economic control of these nuclides are similar to those in an LWR plant. Slight process modifications, to confine the volatile fission products to a small plant area in the headend, are discussed. This avoids additional safety control measures in large plant areas and helps to concentrate the volatile fission products in a single and small waste stream in order to simplify waste treatment. Abstract (German)

(orig.)
