A mechanical model for weakly damped solitons
Description
A simple mechanical model permits to recover the main properties of adiabatically weakly damped solitons which may be described in terms of a particle in a potential well. The adiabatic damping rate and the tail amplitude are obtained. Three examples are chosen which cover a wide field of nonlinear physics. (Auth.)
