This paper is an overview of the Projects, and not unnaturally becomes a review of PROMAN '88, which does not seek to repeat the detailed papers, but considers those items that have a major impact on the Projects' programme, progress and cost from concept to commissioning. It reviews the areas which were novel, those which caused difficulty and those where there was some significant achievement, which it is hoped will set the scene for the remainder of the conference.
