Application of a high power free-electron-laser driven by JAEA energy recovery linac

Description

A high power free-electron laser (FEL) driven by an energy recovery linac (ERL) has been developed in JAEA. The FEL with an average power of 0.7 kW is used for non-thermal laser ablation as a prevention technique of stress corrosion cracking of reactor components, frequency resolved optical gating experiment aiming at polyatomic molecular dissociation and so on. An intense coherent synchrotron radiation is also produced in JAEA ERL as an intense mm wavelength light source. (author)
