New conceptions of the deposition mechanism of pyrocarbon

Description

An attempt is made to draw up a new model of the pyrolysis of gaseous hydrocarbons and of the deposition mechanism. After a short discussion of available models and their inadequacies, a new conception is put forward which can be characterized by the terms ''Langmuir zone'', ''pyroaggregate hypothesis'', and ''droplet model''. In this conception, the pyrolysis and subsequent carbon formation are transferred to a special zone of the gas chamber (Langmuir zone) which is a plasma. Results of new experiments confirm the assumptions. (45 references, 28 figures) (DLC)
