Description
The purpose of this work is to investigate the selective excitation of some spectral lines emitted by noble gas atoms and ions and by sputtered metal ions in a high power pulsed hollow cathode discharged. The results obtained by time-integrated spectroscopy and by time-resolved investigation of the some atomic and ionic spectral lines on pulsed discharges in He - Kr mixture are analysed. The dominant role of the second order collisions induced by He 2 3 S1 and He 2 1 S0 metastable atoms (excitation energy transfer, asymmetrical charge transfer and Penning ionization and excitation), correlated with the electron temperature changed because of the variation of the He : Kr partial pressure ratio are experimentally studied. The gas and electric conditions for optimum selective excitation of certain spectral lines are established. (Author)
