Studies of the 2H(p,2p)n reaction for constant NN relative energies

  • 1. Manitoba Univ., Winnipeg (Canada). Cyclotron Lab.

Description

Numerous experiments have been performed to investigate the distintegration of the deuteron by nucleons. Most of these experiments have been concerned with regions in phase space where two-body effects prevail as in quasi-free scattering processes and final-state interaction processes. In the present study two procedures were chosen to investigate the interference effects. In the first procedure the variation of the breakup cross-section was studied for fixed values of the final-state NN relative energies and a fixed value of the momentum of one of the emerging protons. In the second procedure, the variation of the breakup cross-section was studied along loci which are defined by the requirements of equal values for the final-state NN relative energies and of symmetry with respect to the incident beam direction for the momenta of the two emerging protons.
