Results of fifth regular inspection of ATR Fugen Power Station

The fifth regular inspection of ATR Fugen Power Station was began on July 3, 1985, and during 172 days till the resumption of the parallel operation on December 21, 1985, the checkup of machinery and equipment and the functional test of systems were carried out. It was completed on January 10, 1986, with the synthetic loading inspection. The facilities of the object of inspection were the reactor proper, the handling and storage facilities for nuclear fuel substance, reactor cooling system, reactor auxiliary system, measurement and control system, radioactive waste facilities, radiation control facilities, reactor containment installation, and emergency power source facilities. As the results of the appearance, disassembling, leak, function, performance and other inspections, abnormality was not found at all. However, the accidents such as the damage of fuel assemblies during the transportation and the automatic shutoff of the reactor occurred. The works related to this regular inspection were accomplished within the range of allowable radiation dose based on the relevant laws. The main reconstruction works carried out during the period of this regular inspection were the countermeasures to stress corrosion cracking and others. (Kako, I.)
