Oxygen deficiency and superconducting properties of Ba-Y-Cu-O system

Description

Recent discoveries of high Tc superconductors have stimulated research activities seeking a higher Tc superconductor and finally Ba-Y-Cu oxide (BYCO) which possesses a Tc>liq. nitrogen temperature. A further study revealed that the superconducting phase in this oxide system is Ba/sub 2/YCu/sub 3/O/sub 7-δ/. A defected layered perovskite and superconducting properties of this oxide are found to depend on an oxygen deficiency, δ. In this paper the authors discuss the effect of oxygen deficiency on the superconductivity of BYCO
