Description

In CaF2:Tm (TLD-300) the ratio of 240 degrees C to 150 degrees C TL Peaks has been reported to be dependent on LET of radiation. Thus CaF2:Tm has been recommended for high LET radiation dosimetry as well as for mixed neutron-gamma dosimetry due to higher ratio of 240 degrees C / 150 degrees C TL peaks for high LET radiations as compared to that for low LET (Co-60 gamma) radiation. This is similar to that observed earlier for 260 degrees C and 200 degrees C TL peaks of LiF:Mg,Ti. 240 degrees C and 150 degrees C TL peaks for thick chips. In this paper the relative TL efficiencies (n) for alpha (Am-241) with respect to beta (Sr-90) radiation using fine grains in the range of 1-8 μm were determined for CaF2:Tm (TLD-300), CaF2:Dy (TLD-200) and CaSO4:Tm phosphors; CaSO4:Dy was included for the purpose of comparison
