NMR on high temperature superconductors
- 1. Dept. of Chemistry, Northwestern Univ., Evanston, IL (USA)
- 2. Dept. of Physics, Northwestern Univ., Evanston, IL (USA)
Description
Application of NMR methods has been of considerable importance in the development of understanding of conventional superconductors, those that follow the Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer theory, and show considerable promise in the investigation of the new high T/sub c/ materials as well. Techniques that have been extremely important are the measurement of the spin-lattice and spin-spin relaxation times. The authors have used the NMR techniques indicated above to obtain information about the superconducting energy gap in La/sub 2-x/Sr/sub x/CuO/sub 4/: (x=0.17)
