A magnetic study of iron impurities in the α-Pd-W system

Description
The effect of iron impurities on the magnetic behaviour of the α-Pd-W system has been studied between 1.3 and 300 K. The results obtained show that over the entire range of f.c.c. solution the iron atoms carry a moment, and suggest that below 4.2 K both ferro- and antiferromagnetic ordering occurs in alloys containing approximately 50 ppm Fe. In an earlier communication room-temperature magnetic measurements on a series of α-Pd-W alloys were reported. These measurements have now been extended down to 1.3 K using the Faraday method.
