Study on the range of alpha particles in air using wire-plane streamer detector

In this work the reliability of the streamer detector for measuring the extrapolated number-distance range of alpha particles in air was investigated. The effect of the parameters: anode-to-cathode spacing, the diameter of the anode-wire, different isotopes of gamma emitters, alpha sources of different intensities, and alpha-source with collimators of different geometry on the extrapolated range of the alpha particles was investigated
