Description

Post irradiation examination of a failed (U,Pu)O2 pin (Pu/(U+Pu) = 0.45) of the TRABANT1 irradiation programme indicates a failure (ca. 6 cm long) at the top of the fuel column. This could have been caused by an excessively high linear power. For the TRABANT2 irradiation programme, three MOX fuel pins with high Pu content have been fabricated by mechanical blending of powders and sol gel routes. Their irradiation in HFR Petten is scheduled to begin in the second half of 1999
