Upgraded Nd-Fe-B-AD (AD = Al, Ga) magnets
- 1. Max-Planck-Institut fuer Metallforschung, Stuttgart (Germany, F.R.)
Description
An enhanced coercivity of sintered Nd-Fe-B permanent magnets by Al or Ga additions has been proved by several research groups and is attained by a change in microstructure. These microstructural modifications were detected by EDX assisted TEM. Two new ternary phases have been observed in Al-containing magnets. Improved wettability is given as an explanation for the modified microstructure because similar results are obtained for both Al and Ga additions
