Description

In this study, the velocity profiles of transparent electrorheological fluid subjected to an electric field in a rectangular conduit is measured. Measurements are obtained optically using laser-Doppler-anemometry (LDA) and provide the local flow field of the electrorheological fluid as a function of an applied electric field. The influence of an applied alternating current at various frequencies as well as the influence of direct current on the flow behavior of the electrorheological fluid are examined. (author)
