Criticality calculation for the Jupiter fluidized bed reactor
Description
Automatic translation: Fuel elements of gas-cooled high-temperature reactors consist of spherical or prismatic graphite bodies in which PyC-coated oxidic or carbidic fuel particles ((TH,U)O2 or (TH,U)C2) are embedded. If unused fissile and fertile material is to be recovered from irradiated fuel elements of this type, the graphite must be separated off in a preparatory process step. Only then can the heavy metal be dissolved using a suitable reagent.
