Production and properties of hard metal carbide indexable inserts

  • 2. GIK Inst. of Engineering Sciences and Technology, Topi (Pakistan). Faculty of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering

Description

The role of different compositions used for the production of insert samples has been examined and correlated with the physical (density and coercive force) and mechanical properties (hardness and transverse rupture strength). The interaction between the morphology of powder particles and sintering parameters was also studied. The microstructures and phases were identified to assess the quality of the insert samples, which have revealed occasional presence porosity and eta-phase. The influence of the final microstructure on the fracture behavior of the insert samples has also been examined. (author)
