On the possibility of studying crystal field levels and excitations by μ+SR spectroscopy
Description
The author points out that μ+SR relaxation times T1 and T2 measured in metallic magnetic materials can sometimes be expressed in terms of the spin-spin correlation functions of the magnetic ions. He calculates these functions in a random phase approximation and notices they can strongly depend on the crystal field levels and excitations of the magnetic ions. The shortcomings of this approximation are discussed. (Auth.)
