Standardization of actinide lung monitor for broad energy spectrum

  • 1. Radiation Safety Systems Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)

Description

Actinide monitoring system consisting of three low energy HPGe detector array inside totally shielded steel room has been standardized for in-vivo assessment of internal contamination present in the lungs of radiation workers. Counting efficiencies (CEs) of the detection system have been estimated using realistic thorax LLNL phantom for broad energy spectrum (50 keV - 1460keV). Minimum detectable activity MDA of the system has been estimated for some of the important radionuclides in the lung geometry. (author)
