How safe is safe?
Description
Dr. Barrie Lambert, from the Radiation Biology Department at St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical College and a leading commentator on radiation issues considers the effects of man-made and natural radiation in this book. In relatively non-technical language he measures the risks from sources as diverse as X-rays and nuclear facilities - and finds most of them highly significant. He assesses official reactions to radiation risks of all kinds - and finds them chaotic and lacking in openness. He forecasts what will happen if we go on as we are - and concludes that the safety standards that governments endorse are unacceptable. (author)
