Homogenization models: Critique
Description
The methods for predicting neutron reaction rates in nuclear reactors have evolved in a rather continuous manner since the early 1940's. It is convenient to discuss this evolution in terms of three separate stages of development which correspond, very roughly, to the decades of the 1950's, 1960's and the 1970's. The methods are traditionally divided into two categories; cell homogenization, and global reactor flux calculations. While the main topic here is cell homogenization methods, it is essential to also discuss the manner in which homogenized parameters are used in the global flux calculations
