Time constraints in the treatment of nuclear transients - MONSTREAV code

Description

An improved approach to the spatial dynamics problem is described. This approach alows the factorization of the flux in amplitude and shape functions. Boundaries conditions are treated as time dependent functions and the coupling between functions is treated as the improved quasistatic approximation (1,2). A burnup feedback has been included allowing to describe extreme excursion in fast reactors very accurately even for treatment of nonlinear problems. A benchmark analysis shows that an improved method is fully sufficient for fast reactor dynamics calculations. Computation modules embodying the improved model of neutronic behaviour will be integrared with the other tests of the fast reactor dynamics analysis system now under development at EAV-IAE. Abstract (Portuguese)

Descreve-se um metodo de tratamento da dinamica espacial, atraves da fatoracao do fluxo de neutrons, numa funcao amplitude e numa funcao de forma. As condicoes de contorno sao tratadas como funcoes dependentes do tempo, e o acoplamento entre as funcoes oriundas da fatorizacao e tratado segundo a aproximacao quase estatica modificada (1,2). A queima do combustivel, como retroalimentacao, foi incluida, permitindo-se descrever transitorios elevados, com maior precisao, mesmo na presenca de nao linearidade. Uma analise comparativa indicou que o metodo proposto e suficientemente preciso para investigacoes no campo da dinamica de reatores rapidos. Serao integrados modulos, incorporando o presente modelo, no sistema de analise do comportamento dinamico dos reatores nucleares situados na faixa rapida, e em desenvolvimento na EAV-IAE. (Autor)
