Description

Studied was the rupture strength of 14Kh17N2, 10Kh11N20T3R, 13Kh12N2VMF steels, VT3-1 titanium alloy and two aluminium alloys using cylindrical specimens with circular cracks in the temperature range from 20 to -196 deg C. Static tensile tests and dynamic tensile impact tests of specimens of various type produced using different melting techniques and different heat treatment procedures were carried out. A conclusion on advantages of vacuum-arc melting steels is made according to the fracture toughness values. It is found that the 10Kh11N20T3R steel is the most cold-resistant among the materials studied
