Thin section computed tomography (2mm) of the orbits

Description

Recent 120 orbital CT scans studied with thin section (2 mm) axial and coronal projections were reviewed. We demonstrated detailed, normal anatomy of the orbit in axial as well as coronal planes, and reported the normal range in size of optic nerve and four rectus muscles measured at 6 to 8 mm posterior to the eye ball on 30 normal coronal CT scans. We suggest that applying a thin section coronal as well as axial CT scans can considerably improve the precision of small pathologic change and applying normal measurements to borderline cases can graetly enhance the interpritation of CT diagnosis.
