Neodymium citrate complexes

Description
The behaviour of neodymium in citrate solutions has been investigated at ionic strength 0.1 over a very large concentration range: Csub(H3Cit) <= 3.10-2 mol.l-1, 10-7 <= Csub(Nd) <= 2.10-2 mol.l-1, 1 <= pH <= 13, both by solvent extraction and potentiometric technics. The nature and formation constants of the different neodymium citrates complexes has been established. A polymeric hydroxyde complex has been seen for the first time in a basic medium: Nd3(OH)4(Cit)47-. Its formula has been established by Raman spectroscopy. Some structural information has been obtained, for NdCit23- by Raman and visible spectroscopy
Abstract (French)
Le comportement du neodyme dans des milieux citriques de force ionique 0,1 a ete examine en utilisant l'extraction par solvant et la potentiometrie de facon a explorer de tres larges domaines de variation des parametres qui definissent ces milieux, concentrations en acide: Csub(H3Cit) <= 3.102 mol.l-1, en element: 10-7 <= Csub(Nd) <= 2.10-2 mol.l1- et en ions H+ : 1 <= pH <= 13. La nature, les constantes de formation et par consequent les domaines d'existence des differents complexes citriques de neodyme ont ete etablis. En particulier l'existence d'un polymere hydroxyle a ete mis en evidence en milieu basique: Nd3(OH)4(Cit)47-. Sa formule a ete etablie a la suite de mesure de spectroscopie Raman. Ce complexe et NdCit23- presentent des domaines d'existences exclusifs.
