Radiation chemistry of aqueous cyanide ion
Description
Dilute KCN solutions, irradiated with γ rays in the presence of N2O, give radicals CONH2 which react quantitatively by disproportionation to yield equal amounts of cyanate and formamide. In the absence of N2O, the radicals CONH2 and H2CN are formed and interact to yield a more complicated spectrum of products
