Numerical predictions of the flow in a sector of a fast reactor hot pool

Description
This paper describes predictions for the flow in a 45deg sector of a 1/15 scale water model of the hot pool of CDFR using body-fitted coordinates in the HARWELL-FLOW3D computer software. The results are encouraging and many of the observed flow features are present in the computed results. The trajectory of the jet is a little low, however, and as a consequence, the predicted strength of a recirculation on the floor of the pool is too weak. Possible reasons for this discrepancy are discussed. (orig.)
