Description

On the interaction of acrylic acid with freshly prepared iron hydroxide a new cluster monomer, [Fe3O(OCOCH=CH2)6]OH · 3H2O, was synthesized. The monomer was characterized by various physico-chemical methods. It was established that the acid residues are bound to metal atoms via the bridge-like or bidentant carboxy groups, and that the double bonds do not take part in the coordination. The mechanism of thermal fragmentation of [Fe3O(OCOCH=CH2)6]+ cluster has been studied. It has been demonstrated that the radical polymerization of the cluster monomer occurs through a bidentant acrylate groups. The reduction of Fe3+ in the course f polymerization was not obderved
