Two-frequency infrared multiphoton dissociation of pentafluoroethane (C2HF5)

Description
The specific dissociation rate in two-frequency infrared multiphoton dissociation (IRMPD) of C2HF5 was studied as a function of fluence (φ1) of the first CO2 laser (9R(30) 1084.6 cm-1), and wavenumber (ω2) and pulse energy (E2) of the second NH3 laser (time delay ≅ 100 ns, 817.8-893.5 cm-1). The dissociation rate was found to depend upon φ1 more strongly for smaller E2 at the same ω2, and for lower ω2 at the same E2. This behavior can be explained in terms of the red-shift of the absorption peak due to vibrational pre-excitation by the first CO2 laser. (author)
